In January we were approached by Living Labs Global to submit Integrity for its innovation in GIS to their Global Award 2012 Nominations. Since 2009, the Living Labs Global Award has worked together with cities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to present major societal challenges affecting more than 125 million people and isn’t relegated to only GIS solutions so the competition is both far-reaching and fierce.

You can view part of our award submission at Citymart.com.

The fine people over at CE News listed Integrity’s Sewer Analyst extension in their February 2012 Product and Software Guide and we’re excited to share their spotlight with you!

How does Sewer Analyst it work?

Integrity™ Sewer Analyst creates a preventative maintenance environment for sewer administrators so they can proactively identify and prioritize system maintenance, rather than address sudden and costly repairs. This is accomplished by bringing all aspects of your sewer infrastructure into a single, versatile piece of web software. Map layers imported into Sewer Analyst are uniquely adapted to adhere to NASSCO’s PACP guidelines (PDF), a set of standards created to improve the success rate of everyone involved in the pipeline rehabilitation industry through education, technical resources, and industry advocacy.

Highlights

Run pipe assessment reports so you can quickly identify problems.

Rest easy knowing your system is adhering to PACP industry standard guidelines.

Generate profile views of your gravity mains in one click for awesome visualization of your data.

Import GPS points your field crews collect directly into your GIS program.

Integrate your existing sewer video.

Six more Missouri Counties are making the move to Midland’s Integrity™ web-based GIS solutions in 2012. Morgan, Howard, Cooper and Montgomery Counties are in the process of converting their existing ArcIMS web GIS sites to Integrity™, an integrated web-based GIS program developed my Midland GIS Solutions on the ArcGIS Server platform and Silverlight API.

Holt County in northwest Missouri and Ray County, part of the Kansas City metro area, have both recently committed to the development of a new Integrity™ site.

“We have developed comprehensive GIS programs for all of these counties. They want to take their GIS data to the next level and see the greatest return on their investment. Integrity is helping them do just that.”

- Matt Sorensen, Vice President of Midland GIS

With Integrity™, the counties will have the ability to effectively manage and maintain their GIS data through the web, while improving communication amongst various departments and recognizing daily efficiencies in everything from land records management to addressing questions and concerns from customers. Having the ability to query and analyze data is a tremendous benefit of Integrity. Counties can analyze their GIS data to improve disaster response, establish maintenance plans for county roads and bridges, establish new planning and zoning boundaries, and much more.

We’re currently at work on a new hotfix that will vastly improve open-ended searches within Integrity. The short of it is that we’ve been receiving reports of users attempting very open-ended searches which subsequently timeout Integrity causing the site to stall out.

Example:

The user types in very generic name like ‘Smith’ and starts the search. Nothing happens…

Normally with more specific searches Integrity will return any and all results in just a few seconds. So if you searched for Mike Smith or another common name it is still specific enough for Integrity to handle the request.

Where this rare timeout / stall occurs is when user’s aren’t specific at all or don’t give the auto-search box long enough to populate.

If you encounter a stalled search, simply reload the website and when you conduct another search be a bit more specific.

The Fix

Again – we ARE working on releasing a hotfix shortly to better handle these exceptions. Until then follow the above directions and you should be good to go.

Recently Microsoft launched Silverlight 5. Soon after we released Integrity 2.1 which was fully optimized to take advantage of the new Silverlight. One issue that we’ve had reported several times now is regarding Silverlight’s isolated storage, which Integrity uses to store certain types of map data locally for better performance and user experience.

How to fix isolated storage error in Silverlight:

If you receive an error “Silverlight Isolated Storage” that means your application settings were reset inadvertently during your upgrade from Silverlight 4 to Silverlight 5.

To resolve the isolated storage issue, click “OK” then right click on the loading screen or just wait till the map loads – either way, right clicking will give you a single option that says “Silverlight”. Go ahead and click that.

A menu will open for Silverlight’s settings – click on the “Application Storage” tab.

In the bottom right there should be a single check box titled “Enable application storage”. This needs to be checked.

If it’s unchecked, just check it and click “OK”.

Exit out of your browser and restart it. This should resolve the Isolated Storage error.

Midland GIS Solutions has developed a user friendly, web-based application for work order management. Integrity™ Work Orders is a first-rate system for assigning, managing and tracking work orders for any small to medium-sized city or utility. Integrity™ is a diverse ArcGIS Server and Silverlight web solution to manage, analyze and maintain utility and municipal infrastructure data. The Integrity™ Work Orders extension is currently featured on Esri’s Live User Sites.

“Cities today strive to be more efficient and are seeking to buy products that improve their bottom line while improving on customer satisfaction. With the Integrity Work Order System, operators can easily keep track of reports, eliminate long paper trails and address problems more quickly as they arise.”

- Erin Allen, Business Development Associate for Midland GIS Solutions

Integrity Work Orders gives users the ability to consistently track work orders, maximize resources and track maintenance histories, all from one program. Work orders can be created, assigned and scheduled within seconds, allowing operators to effectively manage their field personnel.

With this work order system, historical data and recurring maintenance can be quickly identified and referenced. The analytical features of Integrity Work Orders can help cities recognize recurring utility failures and determine long-term solutions. Past due notifications are also a tremendous benefit to supervisors so that maintenance never goes overlooked.

Integrity Work Orders is an ideal solution for cities seeking a more effective way to track their work orders, maintenance schedules and field personnel. This work order system allows cities and utilities to make better decisions, address maintenance problems more quickly and maximize their resources, all resulting in time and money saved.
